Allergies come in a variety of shapes, sizes and types, but one thing that is the same for all allergies is that they can have an impact on your life.
You can face allergies whilst out and about, whilst at work and even whilst you are at home.
You might not have much control over whether or not you come across your triggers whilst you are at work and out in the wider world, but there are things that you can do to stop allergies being an issue whilst you are at home.

Always make sure that you dust
One of the simplest ways that you can control the amount of allergens that are in your home is to get rid of dust. This is because dust mites, that live within all that dust are one of the biggest triggers of a variety of allergies that you can suffer from. That said, you do need to be careful about how you tackle the dust. If you use a dry cloth then you will be kicking up the dust and releasing it into the air. It is a much better idea to use a damp cloth as this will attract dust rather than scattering it around.
Vacuum as much as you can
Another important task to do is to vacuum your carpet and furniture as much as you can. This will remove allergens and help to control the risk of any allergies being triggered. It is a good idea to use a vacuum that has a HEPA filter as this will trap the dust particles and stop them from being released into the air as you move it around. You should also empty your vacuum as much as you can too.
Wash your bedding
As gross as it may sound, the place that dust mites really love to live is within your bedding, pillows and throw rugs. The bad news is that we spend so much time up close and personal to our beds (although we probably would like to spend more in there) that allergens can be triggered whilst you are sleeping. If you have any allergies then you need to try and wash your bedding once a week. You should then place them in a hot dryer as this will kill all the dust mites and help your allergies.
Opt for green cleaners
You may not realise it, but the chemicals that are found in common household cleaners can be a trigger for allergies as well as for asthma. If you find that your allergies feel worse after you have had a cleaning session, then you might find it better for you if you switch to green cleaning products. Not only can you breathe easier, but you also have the great feeling that you are doing your bit to help the environment too.
