Lockdown home trends 2021

Lockdown home trends 2021

If lockdown has taught us anything, it is whether we love our home or hate it. Our homes have seen us more than ever before and we have seen some great home improvements!

Here are the top trends you can expect to see a lot more of in 2021.

Home Offices & Multi-functional Spaces

Undoubtedly, one longer-term consequences of COVID-19 will be the fact that more people will be working from home even after the lockdown is lifted. We have found that one of the preferences applicants look for in their new home has been a spare room that they can transform into a home office.

As life goes back to normal, home offices are here to stay, many jobs will likely begin to enable remote working which as a result, we'll see more dedicated and private home work spaces and multi functional spaces such as transforming a room with multiply study areas so more than one person can work at one time.

Outside Space

Given the industrious gardeners who sprouted last year, growing your own produce is an unsurprising entry on the list with ‘vegetable garden’ one of the new popular trends during lockdown.

A new trend is a home with outdoor space for entertaining, with applicants wanting space for fire pits, hot tubs and outdoor kitchens etc.

Home Gym

With a spare room being on the list for applicants, most turn into either a home office or now commonly home gym. Lockdown has certainly placed more emphasis on specific features within a home gym. For example, virtual training sessions have soared during this time, which means a good screen (which can be hidden away) is essential and excellent speakers are even more important for online personal training sessions.
