LOCAL HERO SPOTLIGHT - Nia Jenkins (Lwli Mabi)

Nia Jenkins has been making hundreds of face masks for anyone who wants them locally, and soon to be making scrubs to keep us all safe.

With PPE limited at the moment and coronavirus spreading, the lovely Nia Jenkins owner of Lwli Mabi has been making hundreds of cloth face coverings.

These cloth face covering help slow the spread of COVID-19 and she has been making these while still working full time and looking after three children.

"It's not my usual type of project! We’ve had a little production line on the go here. One cutting, one sewing, one giving directions, one on quality control and the other demanding snacks!"

If that isn't team work I don't know what is!

These masks are free and can be collected from Aberystwyth Town Centre. She said that making these masks is possible due to our wonderful community (which we definitely agree with), friends and family keeping them stocked up with what they need to make them.

So far there have been over 550 marks completed and she has even squeezed in a few scrub bags too.

Trialed & Tested!

What we think is fantastic is that Nia (owner of Lwli Mabi) has continued to support local businesses by shopping for her fabrics at local independent shops in our town. Fabrics have been collected from Aberdashery and Newmans Garden Centre have provided filtering layers. This is really an example of showing how our community have come together during this pandemic. Nia and her family have really passed on cheer to everyone by making colourful, vibrant, patterned, unique masks for free.

Use of Cloth Face Coverings to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19

CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

CDC also advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure.

Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.

If you would like to have some masks then please get in touch with Nia on her business page via Facebook here.

We are excited to get ours!

Take care,

The Alexanders Team.

As we move toward 2026, the property market is set to evolve in ways that will influence how quickly homes sell, what buyers prioritise, and how sellers can best position their properties. While no forecast can be exact, current trends, economic indicators and buyer behaviour provide strong clues about what the next year may hold.

Thinking of selling soon? Setting the right asking price can make or break your move. Here’s why overvaluing your home, even with the best intentions, can actually reduce its true market value and slow your sale.

When it comes to selling your home, getting the right valuation is the first and most important step. A realistic and accurate property valuation sets the foundation for a successful sale — too high and you risk losing potential buyers; too low and you could be leaving money on the table.

As the property market evolves, so do buyer expectations. In 2026, certain home improvements continue to stand out for adding meaningful value — not just in terms of sale price, but also in buyer appeal and speed of sale.
