Did you know March is statistically the best month to sell?

Did you know March is statistically the best month to sell?

With the spring market about to begin it could be the perfect time to market your property.

Statistics from one of the the UK’s biggest property websites Rightmove, suggest that over the last five years competition between buyers is at its peak in March providing potential vendors with the best chance to sell their property.

Why?

March has historically been a popular month with many families trying to get into new home for the Summer months.

With high levels of buyer demand it means marketing your property in March gives it the best chance at being seen and sold quickly. Approximately three quarters of all homes marketed successfully find a buyer, compared to a historical average of around half.

Don't worry, if you're not in a position to sell just yet April is next strongest month, followed by May so there is still time to get in on the spring market.

Rental demand remains resilient in early 2026, but growth has moderated. For landlords, spring is less about reacting and more about refining strategy.

April is a good time for buyers to focus on readiness rather than guesswork. In a market where choice has improved but confidence remains mixed, being organised can make all the difference when the right home comes along.

If you are thinking about moving in the next 6 to 12 months, a market appraisal is often the best first step. It gives you a clearer view of value, timing and buyer demand, helping you plan with more confidence in a competitive 2026 market.

April is the final window for landlords in England to prepare for the first phase of the Renters’ Rights Act. With the new tenancy regime starting on 1 May 2026, now is the time to review paperwork, processes and whether self-management still feels realistic.
