6 Reasons You Should Stage Your Home

6 Reasons You Should Stage Your Home

Staging a home can be time consuming. BUT it really does make a difference, it is really worth the time and effort and here are our 6 reasons why you should!

1. First Impressions – A Well-Maintained Home
If you are trying to sell or let your property, everything it is open to view. Remember that individuals are making observations on various levels, they will be looking to see if it meets their needs from a structural level (size and layout) as well as if they can see themselves being comfortable and cosy in there. Start by fixing what is broken, if there are lights that are not working, get them fixed because on a dull rainy day, you will want your home to look as nice as it can possibly look. After that move on to the cosmetic touches like painting and decorating, a lick of paint can get a room looking much cleaner and fresh.

2. Every Room Will Have a Purpose
You might think a room’s purpose is obvious but individuals may get confused about the purpose of the room if it is packed with clutter. An example of this is having a room of multiple purposes. I know someone who had a room that had a mixture of clutter. It was a playroom with toys, but also a living room with a TV and sofa. What I suggested before her viewings was to remove all the toys and state it as a second living area. This way the individuals who viewed the property were able to see that the space could be used for another living area – an area with a purpose.

3. Staging Helps Them See Themselves Living There
Your job to try sell or let your property it to try get them to see themselves living in your home. One of the ways to do this is de-personalising the house. A trick that works is to remove photos of you everywhere. If you move all the photos of you and your family, they will have an easier time making it personal to them and get a connection with the home. The same goes for decoration, make the decor neutral so that it appeals to the masses. You are essentially removing yourself so that others may insert themselves.

4. Online Photographs Will Stand Out
Remove clutter and rearrange your furniture in a way that emphasizes the space within the home. Staging has a lot to do with the space. This gives the impression that the home is larger than it actually is. Because of the importance of a good first impression, you should spend as much time and energy on staging for the photoshoot of the property. With most people shopping online and using the internet for everything, they will look online for homes too. Accourding to NAR 95% of people are online FIRST before they visit or call to view a property.

5. Not Staging Will Only Help Your Competition
People can have very high expectations. Staging creates a great online presentation and entices people to come and want to view the property, it drives people to ask more questions and gain more interest if the property is staged well. Your house will end up selling/letting much quicker with the more interest you get. When people have viewed the home, they return to their computers and look at the property again online. The high quality photographs of your staged home – that I mentioned in the last point will come in handy as it will keep them interested and perhaps even encourage them to take another look.

6. You Will Enjoy Living There!
After we staged our first property we all said the same thing “It actually looks like a home now”. It was so nice to walk into a home that looked clean, fresh and new with just a lick of paint and a few home accessories! You will find that for the time you are still living there you will enjoy your last few months there, especially if you tackle the things you have been putting off such as the painting, landscaping, upgrading lights and getting rid of clutter. You will have to pack your belongings up eventually so why not start now? In order to stage a home you must remove all clutter. By staging the home you are actually making it easier for you when it comes to move.

When a property sells quickly, it’s rarely down to one single feature. It’s usually a combination of practical factors that matter to buyers once they step through the door. From everyday viewings and feedback, certain priorities come up again and again.

As we move through the start of 2026, many buyers are not yet making visible moves—but behind the scenes, planning is quietly underway. This early preparation is often what puts buyers in the strongest position when the right property appears.

Spring is traditionally one of the busiest times in the property market. Buyers are more active, gardens begin to look their best, and homes naturally feel brighter and more appealing. Preparing your property before the Spring rush can help you attract stronger interest and potentially achieve a better price.

In today’s digital world, it’s easy to think that property websites and online portals are all you need to sell or buy a home. While technology makes searching and listing properties faster, local estate agents still play a vital role—especially when it comes to getting the best outcome and reducing stress.
